Flood death toll reaches 268 in Myanmar

YANGON – The death toll from severe flooding in Myanmar has reached 268 people, with 88 still missing as of Wednesday morning, according to the Information Team of State Administration Council late Wednesday.

The floods, triggered by heavy rains, have impacted multiple regions and states in Myanmar, including Nay Pyi Taw, Kayah, Kayin, Bago, Magway, Mandalay, Shan and Ayeyarwady.

The floods have destroyed roads, bridges, homes, offices, schools and other buildings, the information team said.

The government will give cash support to the bereaved, and more aid will be given based on the level of damage in the affected areas, it added.
