ISLAMABAD — Five people were killed and several others injured in a collision between two vehicles in Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province, police said on Tuesday.
According to the police in the area, the unfortunate incident happened on the Rawalpindi Road in Khushab district of Punjab province.
Police officials said that a truck and a passenger coach collided due to over-speeding, killing the five persons on the spot while injuring at least 10 others, adding that the death toll might further rise as several among the injured are in critical condition.
Following the accident, police and rescue workers reached the site and shifted the injured to local hospitals.
Road crashes frequently happen in Pakistan, mainly due to poorly maintained vehicles, dilapidated roads and negligence of road safety measures.
