ISLAMABAD — Two terrorists, including one in police custody, were killed in a shoot-out in Pakistan’s northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) said in a statement on Friday.
The incident happened in the provincial capital city of Peshawar, where police raided a hideout based on information provided by the detainee during the investigation process, the statement said.
“Based on this revelation, the CTD investigation team, along with the operation team, took the accused to the hideout of his accomplices, where they were already alert and started indiscriminate firing at the police,” the statement said.
CTD personnel immediately took positions and returned fire in self-defense, resulting in an exchange of fire lasting for approximately 25 to 30 minutes, in which a terrorist and the detainee were killed, the department said.
The remaining terrorists fled the scene, and police recovered arms and ammunition from the hideout.
