TEHRAN — Eleven people were killed and 14 others injured on Tuesday in a collision between a pickup truck and a semi-trailer in the southeastern Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchestan, the official news agency IRNA reported.
The accident happened early Tuesday on an intercity road in Saravan County, Seyyed Mohammad-Mehdi Sajjadi, director general of the province’s Red Crescent Society, was quoted as saying.
He added the pickup truck was carrying 23 foreigners, of whom 11 were killed, and 12 were injured in the accident, noting that two passengers of the semi-trailer were also injured.
Sajjadi did not specify the nationalities of the foreigners.
According to him, the bodies of the victims were handed over to law enforcement forces, while the injured received initial treatment at the scene.
